Roofing, Siding & Window Contractors
Things to Remember About Siding Installation:
- Before Hiring a Contractor: Decide the type siding you wish to use. Do so by visiting home centers, looking at homes in your area and reading home magazines. The most common materials are vinyl, aluminum, cedar clapboard and cedar shakes.
- Contractors: Any contractor should have verifiable experience with the material you wish to use. Any estimates should be done based on using that material. Any potential contractor should visit your home and give his opinions on the type of siding you should install before quoting a price.
- Estimates/Bids: Make sure the contractor allows for removal of any old siding and clean up of debris after the job. Labor and material cost should be quoted based on siding squares (one square equals 100 square feet of exterior wall space). Prices will vary a lot depending upon the material, size and design of your home as well as other factors. Remember, wood siding is most expensive and requires painting or staining.
