Carpentry Contractors
Types of Carpentry Contractors:
Trim or Finish carpenters install interior doors, window and door casings, ceiling moldings, cabinets, stair railings, built-in shelving or cabinets, fireplace surrounds, mantels and custom fine furniture work. They may specialize in intricate woodwork and finer detail work.
Framing carpenters build and sheathe the frame of a home and install windows.
Rough carpenters perform framing/roughing in, roofing, stud work, decks and are expert at building the skeleton of a home, including beams and rafters. Ideally they should understand all phases of construction and getting a home dried in (securing it from moisture).
When planning your project, remember to build for your life in general and in the future, not just for a party you are planning to throw once a year! An interior decorator or designer can be a major help in being fully prepared and designing a project for your lifestyle.
Also, plan your project with plenty of lead time. Don't rush into something just to get it done fast, or in time for an event. Doing so could cloud your judgment and you could make hasty decisions that you will not be happy with in the long run.
If electrical and/or plumbing work is required, the contractor should call in the licensed professionals to obtain permits and perform the work.
